Dedicated on November 11, 1992, to all veterans of Christian County and in memory of all American veterans, this memorial honors those who, though separated by generations, shared a common goal of valiantly protecting the country's freedoms. Their memories continue to live on whenever and wherever democracy exists, and the American veteran stands as a symbol of heroism, sacrifice, loyalty, and freedom. On November 11, 2001, Gary Ellis McCallah, age 12, of Clever, Missouri, wrote, "We came from the farms and the cities We heard the call to stand tall." Justin Tatum, age 9, of Ozark, Missouri, wrote, "God bless America for the servicemen who keep us free." and "Their hearts are in God's hands."
