At this spot lie buried Elizabeth Bevier, a 62-year-old widow, her sons Solomon, 29, and Josiah, 23; and widow Johannah Sax, 59, with her children Mariah, 29, Peter, 23, Hester, 18, Dorothy, 16, and Jacob, 14, who were massacred by Tories and Indians on May 4, 1779.
