Door Village School began with a first log school in 1832. In 1883, a two story brick school served grades 1 through 8. In 1900, grades 9 through 11 were added, and in 1912 those grades were discontinued. A new one story school with four classrooms and a gym opened in 1948, and four more classrooms were added in 1955. Grades 7 through 8 were discontinued in 1963. The school closed in 1983 after 150 years, the building was demolished in 1988, and Scipio Township park was established in 1991, when a school memorial was dedicated.
