The Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary was founded in Monroe, Michigan, on 10 November 1845; the IHM mission in Pennsylvania opened at Saint Joseph's in Susquehanna County on 23 August 1858; Mount Saint Mary's of the Immaculate Conception Motherhouse & Seminary was dedicated on 8 September 1902; Marywood College opened on 8 September 1915; and Marywood University celebrated its centennial on 8 Septembere 2015.
