Nature
Jelm Mountain is a 9,656-foot peak in Albany County, Wyoming, near Woods Landing-Jelm. Though rural, it serves both geographic and scientific importance because its summit is home to the Wyoming Infrared Observatory. An unpaved road, first constructed for fire access, climbs from Wyoming Highway 10 at the mountain’s southwestern base to the top. The mountain also has a place in local athletics through the annual Jelm Mountain Race, which sends runners up and back down the mountain.
