Rockland County Court House
Civics
1
Rockland County’s commitment to the rule of law was manifested in its first court house, built in Tappan in 1691. In 1774 a small frame court house was constructed on this more convenient site, and in 1827 it was replaced by a larger brick building. The present seat of justice was erected in 1928 and rededicated on September 17, 1987, in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution.
