Randolph
History
6
Randolph, a hamlet on the Mississippi River six and one-half miles away, was an early rival to Memphis for commercial supremacy and was the state's largest western shipping point in 1830. It declined after David Crockett's plan for a Hatchie-Tennessee River canal failed. The town was burned during the War Between the States.
