The Bloomfield Village Green has existed since the 1700’s and symbolizes the beginnings and center of community life. Wintonbury Parish was established in 1735, the Town of Bloomfield in 1835, and the green was restored by the Wintonbury Park Redevelopment Project during 1963–1973. The lower plaque identifies The Drummer Boy, created by sculptor Wolfgang Behl for the Bicentennial Committee in June 1976.
