Established in 1894 by James and Georgina Barham, the general store supplied the town with food, clothes, hardware, gas, and oil. Less and Lena Childs owned the store from 1916 to 1945, through two world wars and the Depression. When hard times came, Less said, "No one will go hungry as long as I have the store."
