The Hosston Post Office was established on May 27, 1901. Its first postmaster was Dee R. Allen, who served from May 27, 1901, to March 16, 1908, and its last postmaster was Charles V. Giles, who served from June 3, 1966, to December 31, 2004. The post office was located in this building from 1947 until 1968. The first post office in this area had been organized in the Hale community on May 16, 1890, about one and a half miles northwest of the current town of Hosston, with James M. Hale as postmaster. As population moved from Hale into the Hosston area and the railroad was built through Hosston, the Hale post office closed on May 14, 1904.
