On the original site of the Wood County Infirmary in Bowling Green, this property traces the history of public care in Wood County from the late 19th century onward. Built in 1868 and opened in 1869, the infirmary housed poor, disabled, and mentally ill residents while also operating a poor farm. A separate Lunatic House opened in 1885, and the grounds later included medical, farm, and quarantine buildings. The institution evolved into a nursing-home-like facility before closing in 1971. Preserved after threatened loss, it reopened in 1975 as the Wood County Museum, one of Ohio’s few surviving poor houses, with exhibits on the building and county social history.
