Centerburg Community Memorial Park was dedicated on June 3, 1945, by Gov. Frank J. Lausche to the men and women from this community who served in the Armed Forces during World War II. A dedicated and appreciative citizenry had purchased the land and transformed it from a pasture field into a park. The community associated the park with service in 1917-1919 at Meuse-Argonne, Ypers-Lys, and St. Mihiel; in 1940-1945 in the Solomon Islands, Manila, and Northern Luzon; and in 1952-1954 at Camp Polk-Korea.
