Built as a two-story Federal-style home by David Derickson, judge of the 6th District, this house was associated with a man who graduated from Allegheny College in 1821, was admitted to the bar in 1823, and trained many early attorneys. After Hiram L. Richmond Esq. bought the house in 1848, it was enlarged in the Georgian style. In the 20th century, several leading attorneys, including Judge F. Joseph Thomas, practiced here.
