Griggs County Museum in Cooperstown, North Dakota, preserves thousands of pioneer artifacts from the 1880s and connects them to the county’s early settlement and the Bonanza Farmers R.C. and T.J. Cooper, for whom Cooperstown was named. It grew from the Griggs County Historical Society, organized on October 19, 1960, under F. A. Helland, and gained its first permanent museum building in 1970. In addition to its local history collections, the museum includes the Northern Plains Cold War Interpretive Center, linking the region’s frontier and agricultural past to the military history of the northern Plains and the nearby Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile State Historic Site.
