Devils Fork State Park is a 622-acre South Carolina state park near Salem on Lake Jocassee at the edge of Sumter National Forest, where Blue Ridge foothills meet a clear mountain reservoir. Created in 1990, it is known for hiking, camping, paddling, fishing, and scuba diving, with some campsites accessible only by water. Small waterfalls enter the lake through the park, and the lake’s clarity often reveals submerged roads, houses, signs, and other remnants from before its creation. The park is also an important ecological site, home to the Oconee Bell, with more than 90 percent of the world population of this rare wildflower found there.
