The Alfred Ceramic Art Museum at Alfred University in Alfred, New York, is devoted to ceramics and glass and functions as a teaching and research facility as well as a public museum. Its collection includes nearly 8,000 objects, ranging from ancient ceramics of anthropological interest to historical and contemporary ceramic art, craft, and works created through advanced ceramic engineering technology. This range reflects Alfred’s long-standing role as a center for ceramic study and practice. Originally housed in 1,500 square feet in Binns-Merrill Hall, the museum gained a new building in 2014 on Pine Street, funded by a private donation to support expansion.
