History

Naples emerged at the railroad after the railroad bypassed the prosperous town of Wheatville, 3 miles north. The post office moved there in January 1882 and was called Station Belden. In February 1895, the U.S. Post Office Department changed the name to Naples. After the depletion of the hardwood forests, the economy returned to cattle and agriculture.
