Leland C. Zwick and Charles C. Zwick were well known in the Montrose community, and growing up together their brotherly love was unbreakable. They received their commissions in the U.S. Army Air Corps at the same time and were stationed near each other at bases in the Mojave Desert. In their respective flying squadrons, each was acknowledged as a powerful leader. They died separately in plane crashes, thirty four days apart, while training at Lomita Air Strip in Southern California.
