Where are the Fossils?
Nature
1
Three to four million years ago, zebra-like horses, ground sloths, mastodons, and other creatures roamed this place. Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument contains fossil evidence of their existence in the six hundred foot bluffs along the Snake River. In 1988, Congress established this four thousand three hundred ninety-four acre monument to preserve deposits of these Pliocene Epoch fossils. Paleontologists first excavated the Hagerman Horse and many other fossils in 1929 and during the 1930s, and continued research may help answer what happened to these creatures.
