Stony Point (Henderson) Light stands on Lake Ontario near Henderson Bay in New York as one of the earlier navigational sites developed along that part of the lake. The station was established in 1826, the original lighthouse was first lit in 1869, and a later light was built in 1945 before automation followed in 1950 as navigation systems modernized. The present aid to navigation is maintained by the United States Coast Guard. Although the light and attached keeper’s quarters are privately owned and closed to the public, the site remains recognized as one of New York’s Historic Light Stations and an important part of Lake Ontario’s maritime history.
