Bolinas Ridge is a north-south ridge on the flanks of Mount Tamalpais in southwestern Marin County, with protected parkland on its western side and watershed land on the east. Running near the San Andreas Fault, it is known for sweeping coastal views over Bolinas Lagoon, Tomales Bay, Olema Valley, and the Pacific Ocean, as well as its steep southern rise above Stinson Beach. The ridge is a popular hiking and biking area and reflects the region’s environmental history: old-growth redwoods were heavily logged in the late 1800s, but second-growth forest has returned. Its varied habitats support rare plants and more than 150 bird species.
