Dr. Harry Tevis originally designed this fountain as a sunken pool and later replaced it with a raised version. Tevis had an elaborate system to store and move water around his estate, both to irrigate his splendid gardens and supply decorative water features. Pieces of the fountain bowl were scattered all around this area, and restoration crews searched for and salvaged them in order to repair the fountain.
