Lowell Heritage State Park is a public recreation area and historical preserve in Lowell, Massachusetts, dedicated to protecting and interpreting the city’s central role in the American Industrial Revolution. Closely linked to Lowell’s urban industrial landscape rather than a single scenic tract, it reflects how the city became one of the nation’s defining mill centers. Established in 1974, it preceded Lowell National Historical Park by four years and helped lay the groundwork for broader preservation and interpretation of Lowell’s industrial past. It continues to serve recreational and educational purposes while maintaining additional sites around the city, including the Sampas Pavilion.
