Nature
Calico Mountains Wilderness is a protected wilderness area in Nevada in the Calico Hills, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Its desert landscape supports low-impact recreation such as day hiking and backpacking, and it is especially known for striking geologic formations and spring wildflowers that attract local photographers. Box, Fly, and Cherry Creek Canyons offer places for hiking, wildlife viewing, and seeing wild horses. Rockhounding and seasonal hunting are also part of the area’s use, with mule deer, antelope, and game birds among the species pursued there.
