Constructed in 1906, the Century Building became the fourth and present home of the Neptune Hose Co. No. 1. Formerly the Neptune Hook and Ladder Co., it was founded in 1866 by Dr. James O. Green following the burning of the Bath Hotel, and it was the first organized fire company in Monmouth County.
