Buckeye Furnace Covered Bridge
Science & Tech
Buckeye Furnace Covered Bridge in Buckeye, Milton Township, Jackson County, Ohio, is a historic Smith truss covered bridge built in 1872. Named for Buckeye Furnace, an iron furnace erected about a decade earlier, it originally gave access to the company town of Buckeye. The bridge reflects the area's industrial past, linking it to the furnace community that once stood nearby. Although the furnace closed in 1894 and the village later vanished, the bridge survived, remained in use, and still serves the region.
