Buccaneer State Park is a public recreation area on the Gulf of Mexico in coastal Mississippi, along the line between Waveland and Clermont Harbor. Shaped by its waterfront setting and the Gulf Coast’s storm history, it was entirely rebuilt after Hurricane Katrina destroyed all of its buildings in 2005. Its present form reflects both post-storm recovery and recreation planning. Today it serves as an active base for camping and outdoor recreation, with campsites, bathhouses, a recreation center, disc golf, picnic areas, a playground, a nature trail, and a waterpark. It stands as a restored public destination on a Mississippi shoreline heavily damaged by Katrina.
