Bedal Peak is a 6,554-foot mountain in Washington’s North Cascades, within the Henry M. Jackson Wilderness and the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Rising steeply above the Sauk River country, it has dramatic local relief, with its summit towering far above the Sauk River Valley and the Mountain Loop Highway over a short distance. Its runoff feeds both the South Fork and North Fork of the Sauk River system. The peak was named for James Bedal, who settled at its base with his wife Susie in 1892 and later worked for the National Forest Service. The first known ascent was reportedly made around 1921 by his son Harry Bedal.
