Daniel Morgan was born in the Village of New Hampton, Lebanon Township, New Jersey, in 1736 and died in Winchester, Virginia, on July 6, 1802. His military service included the French and Indian War and the Revolutionary War. He was captured at the Battle of Quebec, Canada, in 1775, distinguished himself in the Battle of Saratoga, New York, in 1777, and was victorious at the Battle of Cowpens, South Carolina, in 1781.
