Sandy Shore Recreation Area is a South Dakota state recreation area near Watertown in the east-central part of the state, on the shore of Lake Kampeska, a 5,250-acre inland glacial lake. Part of the state park system, it is designed for shoreline recreation with a beach, boat ramp, 17-site campground, and canoe and kayak rentals. Covering 19 acres, it is the smallest state park in South Dakota. Its significance lies in providing a compact but well-equipped place for swimming, paddling, camping, and access to one of the region’s prominent lakes.
