Yellow Knolls is a mountain prominence at the eastern end of the Virgin River Gorge in northwestern Arizona, in Mohave County near where the Virgin River crosses from Utah into Arizona. It anchors a roughly four-mile-wide area of broken uplands and river bends along the gorge, rising to 2,668 feet beside the descending river. To the west, Cedar Pockets Wash helps border the landscape from the slopes below Jarvis Peak in the Beaver Dam Mountains. The area marks a transition between major regional landforms, where the Virgin River leaves higher country at the edge of the Colorado Plateau and turns toward the lower Great Basin near the Mojave Desert.
