Crystal Peak
Nature
Crystal Peak is a mountain in Sierra County, California, near the California–Nevada line at the south end of the Bald Mountain Range. Located northeast of Sardine Valley and northwest of Reno, it is closely tied to the Crystal Mine on its slopes. Its first recorded visit came in 1845 with a Stevens wagon train, connecting the peak to overland travel across the Sierra. After the nearby town of Crystal was abandoned, local roads fell into disrepair before being rebuilt in 1992. Crystal Peak remains notable for public access to the mine, where visitors were still allowed to collect limited amounts of crystals as of 2020.
