Daroga State Park is a 127-acre public recreation area on the Columbia River in central Washington, about eight miles north of Orondo along Lake Entiat at the edge of the Channeled Scablands. Its name preserves the legacy of the Auvil family orchard that once stood here, combining the names of brothers David, Robert, and Grady into “Daroga,” first used for a peach variety. After Rocky Reach Dam flooded part of the orchard and created the reservoir, the land became a recreation area. Since 1990, it has offered camping, picnicking, boating, fishing, swimming, waterskiing, birdwatching, and wildlife viewing in a landscape shaped by river and scablands.
