A large number of Grady County citizens served in the different branches of the Armed Services of the nation, and a substantial number died while serving in the Armed Forces. Their contributions to ensuring a better way of life and maintaining the freedoms and opportunities enjoyed in Grady County and the rest of the nation were honored by naming the area surrounding the Grady County Courthouse, bounded on the west by North Broad Street, south by Second Avenue, NE, east by First Street NE, and north by Third Avenue NE, Veterans’ Square, as adopted by the Grady County Board of Commissioners on June 24, 2003.
