These 155mm GPF cannons were of French design and could fire a projectile 10-12 miles at a rate of two rounds per minute. The design was used by 10 different countries, including the US, in two World Wars from 1917 to 1945. These surplus cannons were acquired in 1946 from the former Black Hills Ordnance Depot at Igloo, SD, 8 miles south of Edgemont.
