Buttermilk Falls Natural Area in Clyde, Indiana County, is a scenic waterfall site where the water drops 46 feet, among the higher falls in Pennsylvania, and a short trail reaches a point behind the cascade. The place also preserves the remains of a rural retreat once owned by Fred McFeely of Latrobe, grandfather of Fred Rogers of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, who lived here from 1931 to 1956. Stone foundations from the family home, stable, and swimming area still survive. Managed today by the Indiana County Parks and Trails Department, the area is valued for both natural beauty and its family connection to a well-known Pennsylvania television figure.
