Blackjack Springs Wilderness is a 5,800-acre protected area in northern Wisconsin within the Nicolet unit of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. At the headwaters of Blackjack Creek, it preserves four large clear springs, Whispering Lake, and a network of streams, ponds, and wetlands shaped by glacial terrain typical of the Lake Superior highlands. The forest also bears traces of earlier extensive logging, with secondary growth, old logging roads, and railroad grades still visible. Added to the National Wilderness Preservation System in 1978 through the Wisconsin Wilderness Act, it is valued for recovering woodland, wildlife habitat, and quiet recreation.
