John McMillan, D.D., born November 11, 1752, and died November 16, 1833, was a pioneer, preacher, educator, and patriot who lies buried in this church yard. He served sixty years in the ministry, led in founding Western Theological Seminary, Jefferson College, and Jefferson Medical College, and through his missionary labors founded Chartiers-Pigeon Creek and many other Presbyterian churches in this region. With his faithful wife, he shared untold toil and privation so that the Kingdom of God might be established on this rugged frontier.
