This property was first recorded on a 1723 French colonial map of Louisiana. Louis Brognier de Clouet, a prominent Frenchman and critical figure in the development of New Orleans, acquired this land from a Spanish land grant in 1774. The property was purchased and restored by Eric and Marguerite Knoblock in 1946, and it is the oldest surviving structure in Plaquemines Parish. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was recorded for the Historic American Building Survey by the United States Department of the Interior.
