On Jan. 22, 1896, within these walls, Lord Sholto Douglas, a theatrical entrepreneur and son of the Marquis of Queensbury of pugilistic fame, was initiated into the mysteries of ECV. Although Douglas later went on to riches, the subsequent publicity surrounding his initiation into ECV virtually shut down the Marysville Lodge.
