St. Jude Thaddeus was an apostle and martyr, the brother of St. James the Lesser, and a blood relative to Jesus. He is the patron saint of hopeless cases. He died a martyr's death in 65 A.D. and was placed in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. His memorial is October 28.
