Aircraft NC 18111 was an early production Douglas DC-3, the 117th built, and was operated by United Airlines from 1937 to 1954, American Flyers Airline from 1954 to 1973, and Shawnee Airlines to 1980. It was donated to the Museum in 2006. Its specifications included a wingspan of 95 feet, a length of 64 feet 5.5 inches, two 1200 HP R-1830 Pratt & Whitney Wasp radial engines, a cruise speed of 170 mph, a range of 1,200 miles, a gross weight of 28,000 lbs., a ceiling of 20,800 ft., and accommodations for 3 crew and up to 28 passengers. Total production in the USA was 10,655 for both the DC-3 civil and C-47 military versions.
