An artesian well drilled in 1880 provided an unlimited supply of pure water and became a gathering place for Camilla’s citizens. After a water system was installed, the city well lost its usefulness. Through the efforts of the Cherokee Garden Club and the County Commissioners, the well was restored in 1963.
