Samuel Dick was a native of Ireland who came to America about the close of the Revolutionary War. In 1783 he married Miss Martha Allen Gillespie in Washington Count I'a and moved to Cincinnati among the early settlers. He was a citizen of the village during the campaigns of Gen. Harmar, St. Clair and Wayne, and was one of the party that marched from Fort Washington to the relief of Coleraine Jalion. He was a citizen of Butler County at its organization, served as one of the grand jurors at the first Court of Common Pleas held in Hamilton, and was the county's first representative in the General Assembly of the state under the state constitution.
