Village of Cone
History
4
The Village of Cone was named in 1903 for J.S. Cone, who helped carry mail there from the nearby town of Emma. A post office was established that same year in the general store of R.E. Chapman, who became the first postmaster. The town once had a school, stores, and churches, and it is now the center of an irrigated section that produces cotton, sorghum grains, and wheat.
