Built in 1910 by Y.B. Reed, who in 1894 had bought out his grandfather and uncle Burgher and Burgher, this was a complete hardware store with plows, binders, hay balers, hand tools, wagons and buggies, nails, wire, hinges, nuts, and bolts. Its harness division made goods it sold, and its tin shop made gutters and tanks and also sold windmills. It was also a site of voting in elections, and in winter visits and arguments went on by the heater or by the door in summertime.
