In 1947 the American Legion Auxiliary Post 247 erected a memorial on the median strip of Devon Avenue to honor the sacrifice of 47 Park Ridge men who lost their lives in World War II. The Spirit of '45 Committee later relocated it to this site and re-dedicated it on August 15, 2015 in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II.
