Pages Rock Light was a lighthouse in the York River within Virginia’s Chesapeake Bay waterways, marking an important navigational stretch in a long-used estuary. Built in 1893, it was a notably late example of a screw-pile lighthouse. Its hexagonal house was prefabricated at Lazaretto Point in Baltimore, a major center for this kind of bay light, and then installed on Pages Rock. Although its service appears to have been largely uneventful, it remained part of the region’s navigation system until 1967, when it was removed during the wider decommissioning of Chesapeake Bay screw-pile lights. It was among the last generation of these distinctive structures.
