Originally built on the George Solari family farm in Redwood City in the 1890's, this reconstructed windmill was moved to a new family farm after the area was subdivided in the 1930's, relocated to Garfield School in 1990 for a new agricultural program, and then moved again to the city's maintenance yard in June 2000 to save it from demolition after Jean Cloud and Jeri Joseph-Hover urged the city to act. In 2006, the Union Cemetery site was approved as its new home, reconstruction entered its final phase in early 2007, and Redwood Parlor #66 of the Native Sons of the Golden West refurbished the water tank house, which was moved there on May 18, 2007, with support from local volunteers and community donations.
