Laurel Fork North Wilderness is a protected high-elevation backcountry area in the Greenbrier Ranger District of Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia, along Laurel Fork with Middle Mountain on its western edge. Across Randolph County Route 40 lies Laurel Fork South Wilderness, its companion unit. The land was once privately owned by the Laurel River Lumber Company, and its original forest was logged first by floating timber down Laurel Fork and later by railroad until the virgin timber was gone by 1921. Acquired soon afterward by the U.S. Forest Service, both units were formally designated wilderness in 1983 and Laurel Fork North now includes 9.5 miles of hiking trails.
